IPSWA/IFCA Football All-State Meeting

The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and the Iowa Football Coaches Association are announcing details for the 2021 IPSWA/IFCA All-State Football Teams selection process.

SELECTION MEETING

The meeting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.

The meeting will be a hybrid meeting.

You can join us in-person at Dowling Catholic High School, 1400 Buffalo Rd, West Des Moines, IA.

You can join remotely via Zoom. You must RSVP to receive the Zoom log in information, by emailing iowasportswriters@gmail.com.

All coaches are invited to attend. Sports writers must be active, paid members of IPSWA to attend either virtually or in-person.

NOMINATIONS

This year, nominations are being taken by coaches through the Iowa Football Coaches Association in advance of the meeting. Sports writers should check in with their area coaches to make sure they know that only coaches are submitting nominations this year. If coaches do not nominate their athletes in advance of the meeting through the IFCA, they will not be selected to all-state.

We will not be accepting nominations during the meeting this year.

This system was developed during a joint meeting between IPSWA and IFCA following our last all-state meeting.

Coaches had noted concerns with athletes with good conduct issues being selected to our all-state teams. Many schools have policies that forbid student-athletes with good conduct issues from receiving post-season awards.

Additionally, as we move toward digital systems intended to make the all-state process more efficient, that requires nominations to be made in advance of the meeting.

Coaches are working to establish the nomination process within their all-district process and have assured us they will make sure all athletes worthy of all-state recognition will be nominated by coaches.
